Microsoft to Pay Publishers for Content Featured in New Copilot Daily Summaries

Microsoft has announced that it will compensate publishers for content featured in Copilot Daily, a new feature in its AI-powered assistant, Copilot. Copilot Daily offers a concise, spoken summary of news, weather, and other updates, designed to reduce information overload. By collaborating with publishers, Microsoft aims to curate reliable content while ensuring those providing it are fairly compensated. This move is part of Microsoft’s broader efforts to enhance its AI ecosystem and support content creators.

“Copilot Daily will only pull from authorized content sources,” Microsoft said in a blog post today. “We are working with partners such as Reuters, Axel Springer, Hearst Magazine and Financial Times, and plan to add more sources over time. We’ll also add additional personalization and controls in Copilot Daily over time.”

These are some of the same content sources as those used by Microsoft-backed OpenAI to train AI models.
